We also extend our congratulations to this year’s major competition winners: the Men’s Captain’s Prize winner Eoin McGillicuddy, Ladies’ Captain’s Prize winner Eileen Glynn, and the President’s Prize winners Ann Lawless and Mike Hogan. Their victories will create treasured memories to enjoy for years to come. Team Success - Connacht Shield Champions! From a team’s perspective, a standout highlight of the year was our Connacht Shield winning team, who triumphed over Portumna G.C. in a thrilling two legged final! Their skill, determination, and teamwork were on full display throughout both matches, bringing the trophy home and making everyone connected with the club immensely proud. Special congratulations go to Team Captains’ Michael Higgins and Norman Farrell, whose leadership and guidance were pivotal in steering the team to this remarkable success. For the second consecutive year, the exception al Girls Under-19 team secured the Connacht title. They then carried the club’s colours with pride and determination as they competed with honour at the All-Ireland Finals in Donabate Golf Club.

Golf at Athenry A special word of thanks to the Men’s and Ladies’ Committees for their dedication in running competitions, organising events, and supporting golf operations throughout the year. Their commitment ensures that members enjoy a well-structured, competitive, and welcoming golfing experience at every level. A standout highlight of 2025 was Fergal Coyle winning the Munster Boys Championship, bringing tremendous pride to the Club. Fergal’s dedication, skill, and determination, supported by our coaching team and junior convenors, made this achievement truly memorable.

Fergal with brother Ronan, Mam and Dad Close on his heels was Conor O’Reilly, another rising junior star, who broke the course record with a spectacular seven-under-par 63. Conor’s incredible round reflects his talent and adds to the growing list of junior achievements at Athenry Golf Club. Another memorable moment for the Club was the visit of the Claret Jug, an iconic symbol of golfing excellence. This special occasion generated excitement across the Club, giving members of all ages the chance to see the trophy up close and celebrate the rich heritage of the game. The visit created a real buzz and provided inspiration for all members, young and old alike.
