St. Mary’s GAA Club Athenry NEWS & UPDATES

The development of the Club’s new all-weather astroturf playing pitch and wall-ball facility is progressing well and is expected to be completed during the summer, in advance of the winter season. These new facilities will provide a significant boost to player development and training opportunities across all age groups. Our playing fields continue to be extremely busy, with activity taking place every evening of the week and throughout Saturdays and Sundays. Players from six years of age through to adult level participate in Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and rounders, reflecting the strength and vibrancy of our Club. Our adult teams are now deeply involved in their respective league campaigns, with all teams performing strongly and competing near the top of their divisions. The Primary Junior Football team has qualified for the league quarter-final and will face Salthill-Knocknacarra on Sunday, 21 June. Meanwhile, our Junior B Football team commenced its championship campaign in May and has recorded one win and one defeat to date. The championship draws for our adult hurling teams have also taken place. Our Reeves Cup team, Junior B and Junior E teams, along with our Under-17 and Under-20 panels, will begin their championship campaigns in July. The draw for the Senior Hurling Championship is
What a brilliant few days at our Easter Camp 2026. A huge well done to all our boys and girls who took part with such energy, teamwork, and smiles from start to finish. A massive thank you to our adult players who gave their time to coach, encourage, and inspire the next generation. Your leadership makes all the difference. And a special word of thanks to Eoin Lawless, whose organisation and guidance led the camp.

Our young players train regularly and attend Go Games fixtures each week, continuing to develop their skills and enjoyment of the games.

The continued growth of the Club, both on and off the field, reflects the dedication of our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters and we look forward to an exciting and successful summer ahead.
