Athenry Football Club Another Season Comes to a Close! The New Season Won’t Be Long Coming... As one season ends, preparations for the next are already underway.

The 2025/26 season came to a close for Athenry Football Club at the end of May, a season that delivered tremendous success and satisfaction for the club. Success was measured not only by trophies and medals won on the pitch, but also through facility enhancements, membership growth, player development, and the continued strengthening of Athenry FC’s role at the heart of both the local and wider community. On-the-Pitch Success The club secured an impressive 11 trophies across its boys’ and girls’ under-age teams this season, an achievement that players and coaches alike should be immensely proud of. With participation levels and the number of teams competing in Galway FA, Connacht FA and SFAI competitions at an all-time high, the club continues to rely on a dedicated group of coaches and volunteers who make these opportunities possible. Players and coaches have also benefited from the expertise of Galway United legends Stephen Lally and Derek O’Brien, whose knowledge and high-level experience have added another dimension to the club’s coaching programme in recent years. The club will hold its annual Awards Ceremony in the Raheen Woods Hotel on Friday, June 26th, where the achievements of players and teams throughout the season will be celebrated.

Athenry FC is always delighted to welcome new players across all age groups, both from the local community and further afield. If you, your son or your daughter would like to get involved, please contact any member of the club committee or coaching team. We look forward to another exciting season ahead. Clubhouse and Moanbaun Facilities The 4G Astro pitch and Athletics Track in Moanbaun continue to provide top-class facilities not only for local football and athletics clubs, but also for the wider community. Numerous clubs and schools from across the county continue to benefit from this important investment. Thanks to the ongoing generosity and support of so many people, the facilities have been further enhanced this year with an additional astro playing area behind the goal and new areas for long jump, shot put, high jump and other athletic disciplines. Also a new perimeter fence and walkway. At the clubhouse, the astro surface has also been upgraded to 4G, providing additional training and match capacity. New lighting has been installed to improve safety around the clubhouse car park. Further developments are planned for 2026 and beyond as the club continues to respond to the growing demand created by Athenry’s expanding population.
