While home on holiday in Lisdoran, Athenry in 1960, Columban missionary Fr. Frank Carr received an unexpected gift of a colour camera. Standing outside his family home, he photographed scenes from daily life. Among his most striking subjects were traveller families who passed along the road. His colour images remain rare windows into a vanished Ireland, a time when the road was still home to the traveller community .
